Part Four
April 27, 1916
I think I’ve made the right choice. Today I had many chances to run but I decided to stay. I feel like all of these people have a cause to fight, much more than I had when I was briefed in the barracks. I want a reason. The reason I stayed was because I was born here and there's nothing more ironic than fighting the people you you grew up around. No, I don’t think I’ll be returning back to the captain. I will take place in the fighting tomorrow as a free soldier.

There is a point in this endeavor. A shining reason. The choice I made was a sincere one. We fought well. Many British soldiers fell to our bullets but still we are losing our hold. There are just so many. I’m glad that I’m not there anymore. We’ve taken down 4 to 1 but they just have too many men. I don’t see this lasting more than another day. If we can defend the General Post Office, we will be able to keep the rebellion alive for a few more days. The rebellion leaders have shared the plans for a retreat back to the more rural parts of Ireland. However the plan doesn't include themselves. The I still think we will be hunted down until we are backed into a corner. I’ve known Britain to tie up loose ends. They won’t let there be any possibility to lose hold of the colonies. If our retreat is successful we will regroup with other rebellion groups to spread the word and organize more our plans for the future fights. If this is a farewell, remember me.
